Mother of the Groom Etiquette for Dummies

The date has been set for late October and I can now feel free to take the next step: Boning up on MOG do's and don'ts.  I'm happy to have found this little guide on The Knot. But, I am more than a little perplexed by this....
Wait! Speeches to spellbind your audience? What speech? When? Where?  I was gearing up for a killer mother-son dance (my son has moves like James Brown and I can still shake at least one tail feather.)  But, speeches? Does anyone out there know about this? I need input, people! Thank you in advance.

How fun! Most common that we have witnessed most often for reception speeches in order:

Best Man offers first toast/remarks
Maid of Honor
Bride/Goom together
Bride's Parents together
Groom's Parents together

With that noted. Nothing is set in stone. And certainly depends on the tone and formality of the whole event. Have fun! Congrats!

MOG owns the rehearsal dinner. It is your one moment of power and glory amidst the bride's weeks/months of princesshood.

Be sure to include plenty of embarrassing moments from your son's childhood and those of his bride in your speech. Good chance here to work with MOB on producing a video.

Good tips, friends. Thanks. The reception looks to be very casual and the rehearsal meal, a brunch, although nothing is set yet. I will start collecting embarrassing moments, not that it will be difficult. And, I will keep you all posted.
