Another celebrity do...but Leslie Stahl?

As I continue my search for the perfect bangs-heavy hairstyle to hide the effects of pre-cancer chemo treatment on my forehead, scheduled to start at the end of this month (finally), I am cracking myself up. Why? Because, over the years,  I've taken dozens of celebrity photos to stylists to copy: Dorothy Hamill, Princess Diana, Meg Ryan, Katie Holmes, Ellen Barkin.... the list is endless.  I don't know why I find Leslie Stahl so funny.  She's an attractive woman. And, while I think she lets the bangs thing get totally out of hand sometimes....
the 'do can be reined in quite nicely.

I think I'll go ahead and give it a try. Who knows? Maybe "60 Minutes" will come calling.

Nope, still working on Meg Ryan in "You've Got Mail"...too cutesy for Boomers? Nope!

I think the last Leslie 'do might work well. Sorry you must rearrange your pretty face, but you'll look fab no matter what.

I think the last one, too, CSS, but now Suzanne has me looking at Meg's 'You've Got Mail' hair!

Sorry you have to have this treatment Cathy. One thing to think about is doing things to draw attention away from your face (which I know, sounds like my mom saying that if I smile, no one will notice a pimple the size of a quarter on my forehead).

But investing in luminous colorful scarves, statement jewelry, bold jackets, even statement eyeglasses, etc. that will draw people's eyes to them first will be a good dodge.

I had a friend who endured this treatment last summer...on his nose. He looked like Rudolph. It was shocking but most people are cool enough to just sort of ignore it. Those who don't, and gasp and ask questions are dolts and not worthy of your time; if they ask questions, you can say things like "why on earth are you asking me that?" or "I have cancer" (that usually shuts people up quick) or "what? My forehead is red? Really? I hadn't noticed" but said in a withering sarcastic shut-em down way. And little kids who ask questions can be forgiven. They typically ask with such innocence and guile that you feel fine explaining it to the why their parents shudder in embarrassed horror. Good luck.

You might also try some really amazing hair color...like the bright pink on the What Not to Wear participant from Tuesday. :)

Kim, thanks for the kind words and great advice. I'm sticking with my hair color, but I did order some new glasses yesterday which definitely make a statement!! As the carnage will be confined to my forehead (albeit my whole forehead, which is quite a chunk of real estate), I can camo with hats and hair. But, it will also be interesting - and probably a good life lesson - to observe people's reactions when I venture out, uncovered. Thnx again.
