Single male toad seeks female for spring fling

I'm exhausted today. Why? Because a horny American toad - just like the one seen in this video - kept me up all night with his high decibel mating calls.  (By 'horny' I mean like a dirty old man, not the species of amphibian.) The guy was relentless, hanging out in the pond right below my bedroom window. Now, I'm all for finding love, but he'd better get a hook-up soon or I'll have to move back downstairs with my husband who snores at only half the volume.

Hi, Cathy! I promise not to make any "frog in her throat" jokes. Oops, I just did. I am following your blog and enjoying it very much. I am also of the baby boom generation, a former television news anchor, reporter and producer and a Don Draper look-alike (just kidding). My blog is a celebration of the music and memories of the 1950s and 60s and I invite you to come over for a visit. I promise you'll have fun and feel welcome. I'd love to have you as a follower and friend. Thank you, Cathy!

Shady! At long last! I have just read your profile's introduction and, since I am a big person with a little schnozola, I believe we are destined to be friends. Will check out your blog as soon as I can. Thanks for saying hello. - Cathy

I feel your pain. The house next door to mine was empty for the past 2 summers due to a foreclosure. The built in pool was full of "swamp" water. Perfect for toads, ducks, etc. Even on a nice night I had to close the windows (which didn't help all that much). How can such a little critter be so loud?! Someone bought the house and the pool was drained. Yeah!

CP, I read that the toads will do that only for a few nights... I guess until they find a baby mama. Was that you're experience? If not, I'm moving to Motel 6 for the duration.

I mean 'your' experience. Sorry. Sleep deprived.

Seemed like it lasted at least a couple of weeks but there were multiple toads.

Multiple Toads. Sounds like a bad rock band. Mine is a solitary toad, I believe, who may have already found a mate since I didn't hear a peep out of him last night. Ah, nature.
