Countertops, check. Hello, Boulder!

We arrived at M. Teixeira Soapstone in Denver around 12:45 p.m. local time.  By 2:00, we had chosen our two slabs of Barroca and secured a remnant to play around with at home.  When we return to Kansas, I"ll give it a good test drive - scratching it with knives, banging it with pots. Then, if it passes muster, we'll pull the trigger for it to be delivered in about a week or so.

Here is one of the slabs we reserved.  (Oiled soapstone is difficult to shoot.)

This is what it will look like installed, except that ours is a kitchen install (obviously) with a stainless steel under-mounted sink.

Then, it was on to Boulder where we are spending the rest of the weekend on assignment (meaning my assignment) for a "Worth the Trip" feature for the paper.  (Pictured is the drive coming into town. The University of Colorado campus is on the horizon, far right.)  My theme is "Boulder on the Cheap" with a strategic emphasis on the city's abundant happy hours (old school style with complimentary noshes).  Can we do it? Yes. Yes, I think we can.
