Day of Reckoning
Today is the day I attempt to pack my painstakingly selected travel essentials into one carry-on bag. That's two weeks worth of clothing, shoes, laptop and cosmetics in one 22 x 14 x 9 piece of luggage. If I can do it, it will be a miracle on the order of the Virgin Birth. If I can't, I'm going to the other side of the spectrum, extra baggage fees be damned:

I vote for extra baggage! This is a once in a lifetime opp; why skimp?
Ack! Because it's so hard to schlep onto the trains and it SCREAMS "American." Still, I may have to go with a big bag and check it. This isn't going well.
Oh dear...I bet you can do it, Cathy! You can! Might consider your carry on suitcase and, instead of a purse, get a small/mid-size backpack to put your purse and any extras in, thus only having items. Plus, smaller backpacks are much easier to schlep around....no matter what, though, you're going to have a wonderful trip! Enjoy every second of it!
Hang in there, remember what I told you about shopping for "things" when you get there. I'm sure there is nice stuff in the ship's stores, too. I will finish my shopping tomorrow. Courage, mon ami.
This whole baggage thing is why I hate to travel. I've pretty much sworn off traveling any modality other than car. I have an awesome wheeled duffel I got at REI. It has to be checked, but it's easily schlepped -- on Amtrak. I could not go for 2 weeks without my workout gear. I would take out "fancy clothes" in order to cram another pair of running pants in.
