Erica, say it ain't so!!

Bulletin: Variety is reporting that ABC has cancelled "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." That's right, ladies. They're taking away your "stories." I'm glad my grandmother isn't alive to see this.

These shows were mainstays in my college sorority in the 1970s (plus we also loved Young and the Restless and Ryan's Hope). We had a faction that argued for All My Children while others were adamant for Days of our Lives, which were one different channels but the same time.

The whole "my stories" comment is hilarious. This is how my grandmother and her sister (who were they still alive would be 108 and 106) always referred to their shows, which were As the World Turns and Secret Storm.

Kim,
My senior year in high school - when we had "off-campus" privileges - we would go to my friend's house over lunch to watch "The Y and the R." I got hooked on "AMC" in college, where my sorority sisters and I would eat lunch in the TV room before hurrying back to class. After my kids were born, I continued the ABC soap routine until I went back to work. I tuned in again during my 3 months of unemployment - out of boredom and curiosity - and was amazed at how little it took to to get what was going on, 25 years later!
Poor Susan Lucci. What will she do now?!?
