I was so saddened to hear of Elizabeth's passing today. I was diagnosed with breast cancer the same time as she and Melissa Etheridge and have felt a bond with these two strangers since. I cried when Elizabeth announced her cancer had spread, and I rose up with courage and joy when Melissa rocked down the house with her bald headed rendetion of Piece of My Heart. For now, all I can do is send prayers out to the Edwards family as they travel down this stormy road. May the memories of their mother guide them and fill their hearts with solace and love.
Laurie,
Beautifully expressed. I still get tingles thinking of Melissa's "Piece of My Heart" performance, especially that incredible wail she let out. Wow. Prayers and best wishes for your continued good health. Happy holidays.

This is a huge loss for women everyone. RIP...
This was a favorite of Elizabeth Edwards. It's from a song by Leonard Cohen.

So, so true.
